In 1962, Cesar Chavez founded the first successful farm workers’ union in American history. He led the historic non-violent movement for farm worker rights and dedicated himself to building a movement of poor working people.

To commemorate Cesar Chavez’s life and legacy, the Governor’s Commission on Community Service (www.colorado.gov/gccs) is launching a statewide effort promoting the Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning on March 27, 2010.

In honor of Cesar Chavez Day, The Center for Animal Wellness correlated with The Coalition for the Homeless and Merial in order to provide various free services. The services included free exams, heartworm tests, and vaccines that were donated by Merial. Cesar Chavez Day turned out to become a great success that we hope to repeat, this could not have been done without the help from The Coalition for the Homeless and Merial.
