Dr. Aubrey Lavizzo, DVM

Dr. Aubrey is a 1970 graduate of the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. After a brief stint in private practice in his hometown, New Orleans, Aubrey began practicing in Denver in January, 1971. His wife Gayle Brooks Quick is a licensed psychotherapist whose practice is located in the building which houses The Center.

Aubrey is active in both community and professional organizations.  He is a co-chairman of the Colorado Alliance for Cruelty Prevention, member of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is a board member and V.P. of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation and a member of the Admissions, Orientation and Mentoring Committees of the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biolgical Sciences. Aubrey is also the Practitioner Diversity representative of the CSUCVMBS Admissions Committee, and a faculty member of the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Experience (VLE).

Aubrey's varied interests include hiking, backpacking, photography, bicycling, live music- especially Jazz and Blues - and theater.


 Dr. Andy Nigro, DVM 

Dr. Andy is a graduate of Colorado State University where he attained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.  His undergraduate work was done at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he obtained degrees in fields completely outside of science and medicine.  He is a member of both the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr Andy was born and raised in Kansas City, but has been enjoying what Colorado has to offer for the past 15 years.  He has also been fortunate enough to have traveled throughout Asia, India, Northern Africa, Europe, and South America.

Dr. Andy enjoys watching and playing nearly all sports, but skiing in the winter and golf in the summer particularly.  He is also an avid backpacker.

    

Other interest include music (virtually every genre, as long as it’s quality) and reading (especially the classics).


Heather Kirby, Office Manager

Heather is a native of Colorado. She has had a passion for animals since she was young. She spends a lot of time pet sitting and managing the clinic.

Heather's main interests include: exploring and enjoying Colorado festivals and community events.

Heather recently got a pug named Joey. Her cat Savannah, has relunctantly decided to get along with Joey.


Cole Severson, Head CVT

Cole graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 1998.  She comes to The Center for Animal Wellness with 10 years of experience. 

Cole is a Colorado native who enjoys time spent in both the mountains and the city.  Currently she is busy planning her fall wedding to her fiancé Kyle.  Her time outside The Center is spent with family and friends.  She has a 6 month old niece and two more nieces/nephews on the way!

She has a 12 year old cat named Cleo, and has had a lovable (and energetic) 4 year old border collie named Bowdee brought into her life by Kyle.  Bowdee and Cleo have decided that maybe they can share Cole's love and attention. 

Her main interests include hiking, listening to live music, watching movies, and celebrity gossip.  She loves People magazine and E True Hollywood Story!


Michelle Thompson, CVT

 

Michelle is a California native that came to Colorado to go to the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology where she graduated in 2004. Since then, she has spent several years working in animal welfare along with being a veterinary technician.

 

Michelle calls Colorado her home now with her fiancé Jeremy; dogs Maverick, Ebba, and Carbon; and cat Kaylee.

 She enjoys hiking, camping and music

Cindy Hoang, Veterinary Receptionist 

Cindy is currently in her third year at the University of Colorado Denver. She is majoring in Biology, and has an interest in Veterinary Medicine.

On her free time she enjoys volunteering with Dumb Friends League, on the Lulu Mobile and being exposed to the veterinary field. In the future, she would like to obtain a career in Veterinary Medicine involving post-op care and canine rehabilitation.

Cindy has two dogs of her own name Miko and Babee.

She likes hanging out with her family, going to school, and on her free time watching Asian dramas.


Donna Wood, Kennel Supervisor 

 Donna has worked at The Center for Animal Wellness since 1998.  She started with the clinic with cleaning and a fair amount of animal care.  Donna is now Housekeeping Supervisor and also manages the clinic's kennels.

Donna enjoys the care of and involvement with the pets that board with The Center for Animal Wellness.  With 15 years of experience, Donna is greatly concerned with animal welfare.

Her furry children include; Justice, a Min Pin and kitties: Scooter and MacLeod.

She is a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, spends most of her time caring for her pets, and enjoys music, reading, and watching tv as well.
